Comparison of smartphone cameras

Choosing smartphones with the best camera, comparison chart and ratings.

The first table shows the best mobile phones for a photo under €700 (excluding package). A smartphone can replace dedicated cameras at this price there. The second table shows more expensive mobile phones with better photographic capabilities.

The reflectance R is the percentage of light reflected by the screen. The lower, the more the screen reads under the sun. The rates set aside here were measured by lesnumerics. The review of each device that comes after the table is a synthesis of reviews made by the most authoritative sites in the United States.

All of these models have HDR and panorama modes, 4K video at least 30 frames per second.

Pixel 4 XL

Pixel provides better image quality in limited modes. There is no large angle and the zoom is quite short, so it cannot replace the camera and even use it as an addition when the latter does not have a large angle. Night mode, however, offers excellent quality that not all competitors.
The low reflection speed of the screen allows you to compose a photo even under the sun .

Huawei P40 Pro

The P product line is dedicated to photography. The P40 has a large sensor of almost 1." Competing devices from 108MP should combine photocytes and provide 12 MP in the same way as this sensor, but it is easier to use in high resolution .
Images of 50 megapixels do not have more detail than 12 megapixels, they only have a wider viewing angle. In any case, images are of good quality with a high dynamic interval.
The ultra-large angle also provides a good image, clean from edge to edge, 100%, and the image of the telephoto object and hybrid zoom is correct at 100%, but in digital zoom, photography is poor.

Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro

Not to be confused with the Redmi Note 10 Pro, which has less efficient sensors .
By default, the main lens combines pixels to create a 27MP image, very good quality of the day. At low brightness, the grain appears very quickly. A large 13 mm angle produces such sharp and vivid images, without distortion. In reviews, the television object is called exceptional up to 10 times. In 50X, the frames are as expected. 12-MP telephoto object is intended for portraits .

Galaxy S20

Provides image quality in 12MP F1.8 and large angle. 108 MP mode is rarely used. 3x optical zoom provides a clean 64MP image. Digital zoom 30X as always bad, but retains such utility as reading panels over long distances.

Galaxy S20 Ultra

Like the S20, the 108 MP Ultra mode is inconsistent in autofocus and alignment. We'll go back to 12MP for a safer result, although the high resolution gives clearly more detailed results when the photo is successful.
The advantage of the S20 is the 4X zoom, which captures very sharp images, much more than the digital zoom of the best iPhone or Pixel. These are 12 megapixel images taken on a 48 megapixel sensor. Zoom 100X it's when it's useless. It is a pity that by default the choice between 0.5x, 1x and 5x is displayed, while 5x is digital .

Galaxy A72

Compared to the Galaxy, the S20 if delivers a higher resolution and its zoom remains usable in the 10X. Images lack clarity at low brightness.
The main lens is 16 MP by default, with 4 photocytes for each pixel. In 64 MP mode, images are more detailed, but artifacts may appear.
The scale can reach 30X, but the quality is gradually deteriorating .
The dynamic spacing is smaller in the telephoto lens and the wide angle with respect to the main sensor. The distortion is corrected in a wide angle.
At low brightness, images are good with all sensors.

Honor 20 Pro

All three photo sensors provide good images, at the level of competitors except the Pixel 4XL. Zoomed-in images lose a lot of sharpness from the 5X. 30X is purely utilitarian .
At low brightness, the pictures remain of good quality, but lower than the Huawei P40 Pro. The wide-angle sensor is less good in this case, unlike the telephoto lens, which tolerates night time well, even the 5X hybrid.

Oppo Rino 4 Pro

Image quality is good enough for all purposes of the day, including a telephoto subject. The 48 megapixel photos are very detailed, the 12 megapixel mode serves primarily to reduce the file size. The wide corner is the weakest of the three goals. At night, all three lenses produce sparse images. But, moving to Night Mode, we return the images to their color and contrast. In this mode, the device combines successive images, so the device must remain in position.
Digital zoom can reach 20X, with poor images above 5X and very noisy at low brightness.

Galaxy Note 20 Ultra

A resolution of 108 MP can be used at high ambient brightness. Ideally, we will take RAW (raw raw format) images and use black dot removal software. The tele-object provides a clear image up to 10X and 50X for the utility. It does not support RAW when it has.
At low brightness, the photos remain clean, but night mode will be used to refine them.

Galaxy S21 Ultra

The S21 Ultra delivers the same performance as the Note 20 Ultra as the main and wide-angle sensor, and is scalable. This is one of the best for a telephoto lens that can provide acceptable images 30X day in the sun. 100X is possible, but mainly serves as a monocell. The mobile completely controls the selection of the sensor depending on the distance.
Like Note 20, but unlike the S20 Ultra, there is phase detection autofocus (PDAF) with a laser beam.

Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra

Pictures are taken in 12 or 48 MP resolution with all three sensors. They have a wide surface, which allows you to take brighter and sharper pictures. The wide angle remains sharp at low brightness. But the TV subject is only good up to 5X, and is inferior to the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

Oppo Find X3 Pro

Limited when zoom, only 2X in optics, but the main lens provides a clear and detailed image. Its advantage is a very good picture in low brightness conditions, without even turning on night mode. In this case, phase detection autofocus is somewhat less effective. This also applies to video.
Wide-angle images use the same 50 MP sensor.

Vivo X60 Pro

+

Often considered the best smartphone for photography, it lacks anything in any area. Stabilization and autofocus are among the most effective in photos and videos. In night mode, it captured more details than the iPhone 11 Pro.
He is far from the most expensive. Note that the Pro + is significantly superior to the X60 Pro.

Smartphone cameras provide an advantage in accessibility, small capacity and ease of use. If you want better photos, you will get them using special cameras from 700 euros. With these camera comparisons, you can make a choice.
