Virtual Assistant

A virtual assistant is a program designed to free the user from routine tasks, such as accessing information or using a software application.

Klippit

Implemented in Office, it uses Baleysian algorithms to provide recommendations to the user. However, users found it intrusive and very annoying, and Office 2007 replaced it with a traditional help system.
Clippit, usually nicknamed Clippy, was represented by a statuette that automatically appeared in the software during user actions, suggesting specific actions. An icon can represent a robot, cat, dog, or genie.
In fact, he was ridiculed in videos and television series. Smithsonian Magazine describes it as the worst software ever developed in the annals of computing.

MODERN SPANISH ARGO

DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) in the United States, however, has invested $150 million in the development of a similar project CALO (Cognitive Assistant that Learns and Organizations). 60 universities and research organizations are involved.
The result of this research was a virtual assistant who can sort letters, prioritize them and summarize. It can also prepare for meetings by writing notes.
CALO has the ability to invisibly learn and can even shift learning from one field to another.

SRI International is the organization primarily responsible for the CALO project.

Social kinetics

It uses social media to help organise contacts based on people's expertise. It can help keep you healthy by helping you make decisions about maintaining or treating it.

Mobile apps

Siri is an iPhone app derived from CALO. It does not act on its own, but responds to user requests that are formulated in sentences. Thus, it replaces the search engine, producing a directly usable result rather than a list of links (similar to Wolfram Alpha).
It does things like search for a flight to a given destination, takes into account the weather and provides various similar assistance. It's one of the least fulfilled promises in Apple's advertising, but it's still a growing field, and other mobile and system makers are also making progress with their solutions.
