How to sync Gmail with your mobile
You can access his email from Gmail or another service directly on your smartphone without going through a browser.
Email protocols
SMTP

It directly connects the issuer's server to the recipient's device and forwards email messages that are sent when two stations are connected.
POP MUSIC
Post Office Protocol, French: Postal Protocol.
Receive e-mail messages received in an unconnected mailbox, as opposed to SMTP.
IMAP
Internet Protocol in French: Internet Message Access Protocol.
More than POP, it allows you to manage multiple mailboxes and select email messages for recovery by criteria.
IMAP-IDLE is a function that allows you to inform the server that the mobile device is ready to receive notifications. This simulates a push server. All mobiles support it.
Mobile phones
Android
Connection to Gmail is automatic, its email and password are issued on the first use. The Gmail application displays waiting letters and warns of a message, a notification appears in the status bar.
The synchronization is complete, changes to the account were found in the web version.
Other email services use POP, IMAP, etc.
iPhone
It takes into account GMail or Yahoo mail services through the Mail for Exchange service. Synchronization is complete and configuration is simplified.
For other email messages, such as Hotmail, there is only POP access, so messages received offline are received. And the configuration is manual.
Nokia и Symbian S60
Nokia uses the Mail for Exchange service, which makes it easy to access instant messengers, as well as Ovi sync, a pure service. Both offer full sync.
The Nokia Messaging app provides access to all POP and IMAP compatible messages.
Windows Phone
Microsoft OS, of course, prefers Hotmail to the same company. The Hotmail app provides full synchronization with an email mailbox with the same name and other Microsoft messages.
The Active Synk service requests a clean configuration for accessing Gmail, and for one account at once, unlike Android.
