7 steps to prepare your site for search engines

This guide is required for site distribution and indexing of all pages by search engines.
Even if a site has full and interesting content, it will be invisible online, with no links to directories, search engines and other sites that could bring back links.

Mats Katt, in an interview with USA Today magazine and after the experience he had with his chiropractor, who complained that Google was not bringing him visitors, gives beginners some advice.
For links, meta tags, keywords on the page, and retrieving returned links.
To promote, create a blog to talk about your products.
To manage, use analytics and webmasters, which Google offers for free.
This is explained in detail in this guide.

The link may also require editing the presentation or adding more content to the page. Please note that abuse of procedures to artificially improve the position of the site (for example, stuffing keywords) can lead you into a "sandbox," or "sandbox..."

1. Preparation of pages

Contents

Representation

Keywords regarding content or action

The number of instances of a keyword per page is irrelevant because it is used at least two or three times. But the variety of keywords used in your text is important, as well as their place, which should be relevant.

Navigation, internal communications

Don't put a barrier in the way of robots.

External relations

Avoid rookie mistakes

2. Tag title

The "head" section of pages for a link must contain a TITLE tag.
It contains a page name of up to 80 characters. This tag is absolutely required.

  1. You can place the site domain name on the master page, but you don't have to repeat it on other pages.
  2. The name gives a lot of information to search engines. Don't leave your page with "untitled" generated by the publisher, and avoid a neutral phrase like "Greeting" or too short as "Car," but rather a 50-character phrase that best describes your page by expressing interest.
  3. Titles must be completely different on each page, otherwise they are incorrectly indexed by engines.
  4. Titles should be phrases, not keywords, and reflect the content of the page.
  5. The ideal is that the title makes you want to read the page, this is important in the lists of search engine results.
For example, in the experience of a webmaster, placing "All" in front of "tools for sale" is enough to improve results.
  6. The TITLE tag title may be more complete than the page title because the second is visible in the site context when the first is visible out of context on the results page.

3. Meta-tags

The meta tag format is as follows:

<meta name="" content="" >

The name is given the name "description," "robots," and text or guidelines.

DESCRIPTION

Description of the page (or site). Google displays only 160 characters.
The description label is important for pages with little content and especially images. It is used by Google for results text, snippets as stated in this article: Improve snippets with meta-description makeover. It should contain an appropriate description of the content of the page and be specific to each page. Example:

<meta name="description" content="Sujet de la page" >

ROBOTS

Search Engine Guide, default "all":

FRAGMENT

<meta name="fragment" content="!">

This tag tells engines that this is an Ajax page and that dynamic content needs to be indexed. (See Ajax).

Additional tags

These beacons are useful but not mandatory.

These tags have no meaning for links, they can be used in specialized tools:

4. Links and returns

The format of internal and external links is important in that it is used by engines to better understand the purpose of a page, and in that users can resume a link and bind it as is for their own pages. Google recommends creating a single format for all internal links on one page. The binding must be similar to this page.
As for the file name, it is desirable that it be unique, although it would be possible to use the same name in different directories, and all in minicules.

Internal communications

It is not recommended to re-optimize the binding, that is, to multiply links to the page by systematically placing a set of keywords in the binding. Ideally, the binding should match the page name.

Get links

Backlinks are important for classifying pages in results, as they indicate the popularity of the site. Links from important and popular sites, of course, are of great value.
Google gives you a way to increase your popularity, as well as add links to your own site: create a blog to talk about your products. Wordpress is a good tool for creating your blog.
To have meaningful value, links must come from different and site-independent sources, therefore from different owners. Texts that link to a site without a link tag are accounted for by Panda's algorithm.

Catalogs

This is an alternative when starting the site. But if after some time he will only have self-controlled backlinks, then this will not have a positive effect.

Reference books

To find out which directories will bring the most visitors, make a query in search engines with two or three keywords: those that best characterize your site + the word directory.
Consider the first pages of the results. Avoid catalogs that do not appear there.

A background campaign (from another site) in the past on this selection of master catalogs, which are supposed to actually have visitors, yielded the following results: About 500 additional backlinks (although there are only about 50) and a slight improvement in traffic. Most of the connections disappeared over time. It's an experiment that can't be replicated these days.

Error trying to avoid

Enrolling in numerous directories to improve rank can lead to a sudden increase in the number of links to the site, but this is not the next day. Further avoid the same description in several reference books.

5. Sitemap

Creating a map of your site, which you will present to the Google engine, Yahoo and later Live Search, can improve its visibility on the web. In addition, you can have minimal control over the behavior of motor robots.
Creating a sitemap file is very tedious. There are programs that provide a graphical interface to the sitemap XML file and make it easier to edit.
An example is the sitemap generator, Simple Map, with a graphical interface for Windows.

At least a month before the Google update, you can check the new popularity of your site using Google Webmaster Tools, which will show the number of backlinks on each page. Other similar tools are also listed in the webmaster tool list.

6. RSS

Adding an RSS syndication file to the root of the site, which contains a list of the best pages or the latest articles or posts, significantly promotes the site and receives returned links.
Read more and get a free RSS editor in the article: Promoting the Site with RSS.

The RSS feed is not useful to all hosts. It is especially used for advertising novelties and therefore for trade or news sites rather than encyclopedic ones.

7. Website promotion

A website launch can be accompanied by an Adword ad campaign, where you choose the maximum amount you pay for each click in the ad.
The free link offered by some highly valued domain name providers can only be an addition to the essence, which is the content of the site as explained above: layout, precise definition and insertion of meta tags.
