From sketch to logo: Creating a text logo and image using GIMP
Alpha with the logo adds texture to images with special effects.
Use Alpha script for logo
The texture is applied to the image on a transparent background. Transparency is what distinguishes an object that needs to be transformed from the rest. This tells us how to start implementing the logo.
From sketch to logo... Background transparency will be lost after applying the filter .
1) Create a new image
When you create an image, a window appears. Click Advanced Options, then click the Fill menu and select Transparency.
2) Add text
Click the letter A on the toolbar. Then select a font and size. The demo uses "Segoe Script."
Text color is irrelevant with most filters.
3) Add an image
It can be drawn or imported (in PNG format) from another editor as long as it has a transparent background. If this does not happen, it can still be wiped to remove from the bottom.
4) Select a filter
Click on the "Filter" menu and click "Alpha to Logo." Select a filter from the 20 suggested effects. Here's an example of each:
Some effects, such as comic or chalk, can only be used on a fairly large image.
Each filter has a window for selecting the color and texture of the image or background. By experimenting with them, you can achieve a better effect .
5) Save image
You'll have to applaud him because the effect is broken down into many layers. This can be done directly with the Merge Down option or automatically when backing up.
Some filters do not work after straightening, so you need to restore the image from the screenshot.
Cunning
With some filters, such as Gradual Bevel, if a sketch is placed on a layer, the logo will be superimposed on the image below the layer. This does not work with all filters .
Using the Toolbox Logo for a Transparent Background
The Toolbox logo script must first be loaded and installed to appear in the menu.
Once installed, go to File -> New -> Logos (Gimpchat.com) -> Toolbox Logo to open the dialog box.
To have a transparent background, set the Background layer to None. And to have a single color text rather than texture, set Bump Layer to None.
Cunnings
If your text is small (less than 100), the result will be catastrophic. It is best to create a logo of 200 pixels or more and use Image -> Image Scale and Size to reduce it to the desired size. You can even change the proportions with a good result. I used this technique for the download button on this site (see SVG for examples).
