Bing vs Google

Bing is a solution engine, a new concept of the Microsoft search engine, whose temporary codename was Kumo. It differs from Google's engine to revive Microsoft in online search.

Bing was announced on May 28, 2009, and has been available to the public since June 1, 2009. On July 29, 2009, Microsoft and Yahoo signed an agreement under which Bing becomes a unique search engine on all Yahoo sites.

What Microsoft says about Bing:

«We have taken the algorithmic programming up an order of magnitude».
Trad.: We put the programming of the algorithm in a different order of magnitude.

The interface, in addition to the background image, differs from Google in the presentation: on the left there are search categories suitable for each type of media: images, videos, purchases, news, maps, travel.

The engine was first codenamed Kumo, meaning canvas or cloud in Japanese. The name Bing was chosen by a brand consultant. We thought of Bang, but Bing looks like Bingo and was a favourite. The resourceful acronym BING is not Google, it's not the original idea, Microsoft says.

What is the driving force behind decision-making?

Statistical studies have shown that two-thirds of requests made by Internet users currently require revision: It needs to be changed and restarted.

Bing was developed from this observation. The search starts with deciding what to get, what happens to the list of contexts to select in the sidebar.

When expressing a query, the sidebar is supplemented with additional information. There you can find:

Other search-dependent criteria appear.

It is clear that intelligence is behind this decision bar, and Microsoft says so when it introduces Bing.
There is also the intelligence brought by Powserset integration (recently bought out by Microsoft), which tries to interpret the content of site pages.

Bing also seems designed to encourage internet users to stop at the engine's site rather than go to the sites provided as a result. As a result, there will be fewer unnecessary site visits followed by an immediate return!

Bing is better than Google

?

Bing provides assistance in defining the query. Google's recent introduction of the media bar at the top of the page and the Show option, which appears when you jump to a request, provides equivalent services .

But the opinion of those who tested the engine under the temporary name Kumo is as follows:

Long hangout

Bing is trying to make up for a flaw in Microsoft's previous search engine. According to one of the Bing executives, if Microsoft had such a small market share compared to Google, it means that it ignored a long lag.
The previous engine returned results to important sites, but did not index many small sites, which, however, answered more accurate questions.

Responses and comparisons

Carol Bartz, CEO of Yahoo:

«It's interesting but not over-the-top interesting», se said. "People will keep Samu dressed."

Trad.: Interesting not at the high point. People will keep the same habits.

But opinions change, in July 2009 there is an announcement of a deal between Microsoft and Yahoo.

Eric Schmidt, CEO of Google

"They 've got a bunch of new ideas, и there are some things that are missing. We think that search is a real understanding, freshness, scale and size of what we're doing, and it's a difficulty to copy that."

Trad.: They implemented a bunch of new ideas, and there are things that are missing. We believe that research is primarily a matter of completeness, relevance on the scale of what we do, and it is difficult for them to achieve this.

CUIL search engine CEO Tom Costello drew a comparison between Bing and Google.

Video search

The level of interactivity is the highest and video search becomes a pleasure. The result is a selection that appears as an image board that animates when the mouse hovers over one of them.

Behind this panel of completely simple videos are many technologies: localization of search, multiplication of sources (Youtube, Dailymotion, etc.), as well as various filters enabled by the user...

You can now block any sexual content by blocking this domain:

explicit.bing.net

An invisible domain is a firewall installed by Microsoft to block such content.

Conclusion

Can Bing take market share from Google? This is Microsoft's hope, even if the goal shown is to enter another market.
This is more like an alternative that we will move towards if we feel unwell at Google. Then it would be at the expense of Yahoo and other search engines. Google provides the number of free services that Internet users are tied to, and should remain the first choice for most of them.
